into the Murray Darling Basin Plan
The Murray Darling Basin is facing unprecedented environmental collapse. Rivers are dry, or plagued by blue-green algae. Fish are dying in record numbers, including Murray Cod that have survived for more than 50 years.
And the Liberal National Party would have us think this is a normal part of drought.
We need answers. We know that the big corporate cotton growers continue to make profits, while their downstream neighbours, river communities, and the environment are left high and dry.
That’s why the Greens’ are moving to establish a Royal Commission into the Murray Darling Basin.
A Royal Commission will help us get to the bottom of why the river is suffering, and set us on a course to fix it. If we look after the river, it will look after us. We need it to last.
Dear Prime Minister,
Taxpayers have spent $13 billion on a plan to save the Murray Darling Basin, the lifeblood of our nation, and yet the river is dying. We deserve to know where the water is, and where our money has gone.
I want a Royal Commission into the Murray Darling Basin. A Royal Commission will help us get to the bottom of why the river is suffering, and set us on a course to fix it. If we look after the river, it will look after us. We need it to last.
We want to see a flourishing, healthy river. We want our Murray Darling to be restored and thriving. Support the Greens’ push for a Royal Commission – it is time to cut through the muck and save our River!
